Collection consists primarily of correspondence, 1874-1902, letterbooks, accounts and account books, land records, and related materials of Richard Booker Chaffin (1844-1902) concerning the real estate firms of Chaffin, Staples & Co. and R.B. Chaffin & Co. of Richmond, Va. The records also include contracts for the sale and rental of land and the construction of dwellings and other buildings in Chesterfield and Henrico counties and Richmond, Va. Also, include personal account books, contracts with workmen, and other materials of Richard Booker Chaffin concerning cattle breeding on "Chatsworth Farm," Henrico County. Also, includes personal accounts, 1846-1875, of Susan Adeline (Willson) Chaffin (1815-1883) of Amelia County and Richmond, Va., and materials, 1846-1871, concerning the settlement of the estates of her husband, John Booker Chaffin (1811-1849), and his uncle, Richard Booker (d. 1846) of Amelia County.
